Project overview
Imagine trying to make a positive environmental impact, only to be frustrated with a tool meant to help you.
That was the challenge faced by users of Get Green, a sustainability lifestyle app designed to promote the adoption of eco-friendly habits. Despite its mission, the app struggled with low engagement as users found it difficult to track their progress and stay motivated.
The result of two product designers taking on the challenge to revive an app with almost no active users? A revamped product vision by introducing a levels system that simplified tracking and transformed habit-building into an engaging, gamified experience.
Impact
The redesign had an 85% approval rate, demonstrating strong potential to boost retention. The project is now in development and scheduled for release in Q4 2024.
An app to track and explore sustainable actions
People want to lower their environmental impact but don’t know where to start. GetGreen helps by suggesting personalized, eco-friendly actions to adopt to your everyday life. As users complete these actions, they earn leaves that are used to calculate the carbon offset of their lifestyle.
With a 100% bounce rate, do users want this app?!
The user data revealed that within just four weeks of onboarding, 50% of users had already abandoned the app. By the two-month mark, this churn rate spiked with ALL users dropping off after sign-up.
The first question we explored was whether this app has any inherent value for users. By interviewing new users using the app for the first time we learnt that GetGreen’s value proposition was EXPLORATION of new sustainable actions.
